Tom Kelley Receives the Dana Award

Tom Kelley, Pine Tree Legal Assistance's Director of Training and Litigation was awarded the 2009 Howard H. Dana Jr. Award at a reception during the MSBA's Winter Bar Meeting. Pine Tree Legal Assistance staff and alumni came out to support Tom as he was awarded the 2009 Howard H. Dana Jr. Award on January 29, 2009.

Established in 1984, the Howard H. Dana, Jr. Award is Maine's most prestigious pro bono award and is presented annually by the Maine Bar Foundation. The award is granted in recognition of an individual's outstanding contributions to the development and implementation of private bar projects which enhance civil legal assistance to the indigent, and for outstanding service in the advancement of Bar Foundation's goals.

Pine Tree Welcomes New Staff in 2009!

Former PTLA intern, Orson Horchler, started his new position as the Employment Law Project's new paralegal/advocate in February.

Scott Wallace joined Pine Tree Legal Assistance in February as a part time paralegal/advocate in the Portland Office.

KIDS LEGAL attorney wins SMPA award!

The 2007 Southern Maine Parent Awareness awards were presented at a luncheon on September 10 at the Libby Wakefield Gallery in Sanford. The 2007 Attorney Award was granted to Sara Meerse, directing attorney of KIDS LEGAL, “for her continued commitment to enrich the lives of children and youth with strengths and disabilities and their families.” Congratulations, Sara!
